FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

July 30, 2010 by purplume

I’m on vacation and have turned the comments off. I’m not there to link up to Feel Good Friday, but, I’m thinking of you all. Thinking of all you readers, when I am not distracted by the beauty of family and friends. Have your best summer ever.

The work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life. Jessica Hische

My daughter sent me this in an e-mail. I think it’s brilliant.

*

What do you do when you procrastinate?

*

I blog.

I’m missing my Hubby already.

July 28, 2010 by purplume

I’m on vacation and have turned the comments off. Thinking of all you readers, when I am not distracted by the beauty of family and friends. Have your best summer ever.

Humaness is endearing in ways perfection never could be.

I wrote this once after reflecting on a beloved friend.

*

More recently I commented on Pen and Paper blog,

OMG, isn’t it the imperfections that add to the appeal and charm? That’s what I tell my husband anyway.

*

Since I may not have said it to him in those very words, I went over and said it to him.

*

His response was:

*

Imperfections implies small things.

*

As I reached out to reply physically in some way, he said something endearing and now neither of us can remember what it was. I wanted to share it. C’est la vie.

*

It may have saved his day. Now to remember the positive part and forget the rest.

SPECIAL DAYS WITH OUR GRANDSON

July 26, 2010 by purplume

Twice my grandson and I have been ocean kayaking at sites where dolphins appear. We haven’t seen any.At the second sight near the City of Refuge, there were signs saying the dolphins rest during the day and to leave them alone.

*

I think like the star on Drop Dead Diva that everything happens for a reason. I am most grateful that the seas have been very calm. And we’ve seen some world class snorkeling.

*

My grandson’s favorite thing so far has been kayaking. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he knows how to paddle. That has been a big help in making it so I get back home before I fall asleep. XD

*

Yesterday we stopped by the Waikoloa Outrigger Canoe Club. I can’t say enough good things about Lisa, the women in charge of the Keiki. (children). She is supportive, understanding, encouraging, kind, upbeat, clear and informative for starters.

*

My grandson got to be the stroker and had an invigorating experience going out in the canoe.

*

Today my husband and grandson go on zip lines in the rain forest over gorges and past waterfalls.

*

I have my comments turned off dear readers. I love the comments and I know I won’t be able to reply for a while. Sending you all wishes for your best weeks ever.

This week Liz at Eternal Lizdom is hosting the meme.

*

This week I received a package in the mail.
*
It was from Elizabeth at On Tap For Today. In it, bedsides the hot sauce I won on her blog, there was a selection of teas, some spa creams like stress relief oil, uplifting cards and Luna nutrition bars. It’s so thoughtful of her.

*

My favorite card says

I trust the process of life. There is a rhythm and flow to life, and I am part of it. Life supports me and brings to me only good and positive experiences. I trust the process of life to bring me my Highest good.

There was also the bottle of hot sauce – Big Papi.
I wanted to win it because my husband loves hot sauce. He says this one has very good taste and is just the right hotness.
*
I love all the added bonus and will take them with me on my travels.
*
Thank you Elizabeth, I am grateful for all the goodies and your kind note.
*
As if this wasn’t enough for a great week, I am flying over to Honolulu this morning to pick up my grandson.
*
We are having a special trip with just him and my husband and I and the wild dolphins and a zip line.
*
Have your best week ever.

FROM MUFFIN TOP TO SKINNY JEANS

July 21, 2010 by purplume

Short Mama at Family Of Shorts started this meme and I want in. I want the results.

*

I want you to pick 5 things that you love/like/tolerate about your body…as it is right at this moment.

*

1. I love my feet. They jog along and let me enjoy feeling free.

2. I love my nails. They are pretty without much effort on my part.

3. I love my torso being 2 inches smaller. Even that much makes me feel so much better about it. It’s an hourglass shape.

4. I love my skin. People often think I am 20 years younger. Thank you skin.

5. I love my legs. They are good in shape and strength. And my thighs are smaller than Eric Heiden’s.

*

I do believe that our bodies are perfect for the work we are meant to do.

Energy

July 19, 2010 by purplume

Plumeria

Want some energy?

*

Sensitivity to others energy is very high in this one.

*

When someone is ‘pulling’ on my energy, I notice right away.

*

In my own life, I am not always as upbeat as I would like to be.

*

In particular to my terrific acupuncturist.

*

While she is working on me, I unload all the current happenings in my life, particularly the challenges.

*

She is a superb listener and she gives excellent feedback.

*

Translated, this means, she doesn’t judge me and she doesn’t tell me what to do.

*

I love it and yet…

*

I judge myself for being too ‘nudgy’ and not upbeat.

*

So, I decided when I am there and doing what I still keep on doing, I will in a prayerful way ask for positive energy to come through me and spread out to her and the whole room.

*

It makes me feel much better. I don’t know if it is any better for her.

*

Maybe, it is because I stop judging myself.

*

Here comes dear reader, I am sending you a blast of positive energy. Have your best day ever.

You’re taking a vacation Erika, couldn’t come at a better time for me. My grandson arrives next Friday and soon after that I’ll be traveling until September.

*

I feel real good about my trip. I’ll be at Disney world with my oldest son’s family and then New York visiting my 94 year old father then to CA and finally to Texas with my daughter’s family.

*

I’m practicing staying calm about all the details.

*

In NY I will see about 20 of my  classmates from my childhood. That was pure joy the last time I was there.

*

My happiness is in my looking forward and anticipating.

*

Instead of swimming with captive dolphins, my grandson and I are going to kayak out to a spot where the wild dolphins play. Also my grandson and husband are going on a zip line over gorges in North Kohala here in Hawaii.

*

When I am traveling, I won’t have a computer with me and  my blog presence will be spotty. I have a few posts set to publish. I will be thinking of you all and wish you all your best summer ever.

FROM MUFFIN TOP TO SKINNY JEANS

July 14, 2010 by purplume

Short Mama at Family Of Shorts started this meme and I want in. I want the results.

*

So what are you drinking? Are you sticking to your healthy eating plan and drinking a ton of water? Do you got to have your iced tea? Or are you still sipping on the can of sugar soda?

*

This is perfect for me. I have been succumbing to having a cold beer each day. I got myself some light ones at 100 calories, but I know it would be better to skip the beer and have the calories in good food.

*

I know I have been doing it because I haven’t kept cold tea in the fridge. I like my tea unsweetened also. My doctor recommended at least three cups of nettle tea a day. I usually drink them cold.

*

My favorite is cold weak green tea. I will drink water but would rather have tea.

*

Years ago I lost some weight and was working out. I got a hernia. I know, I pushed it with the weights and that caused it. A contributing factor was, when you lose weight, toxins that were stored in the body fat, are released and weaken your muscles. That is a good reason to drink lots, so you dilute the toxins and they pass out of you faster.

*

To your heath.

Philosphical Differences

July 13, 2010 by purplume

Wild Dolph Play - photo by Jurvetson

*

OMG, what a challenging time.

*
When Holly at Zahirah’s Kitchen mentioned about the movie THE COVE and problems for dolphins. She gave me a link about the dolphins in captivity. I didn’t get it. I just selfishly thought, Oh no, is this going to be like my rabbit coat?

*
I lived in Brooklyn in the 80′s and bought a white rabbit jacket at a thrift store. It quickly became clear to me that I would be covered with paint if I wore it.

*

I felt aggravated by that. The rabbits used probably fed a family for a month. I wasn’t buying a coat made out of a rare or endangered animal.

*

When I watched THE COVE. I watched it looking for loopholes that would allow me to still go and swim with the dolphins with my grandson. I couldn’t find any. I got very clear and committed about the dolphins.

*

My husband has a lot of sensitivities and I know how challenging it is for him to be comfortable. I relate the plight of the dolphins to what I know of his misery. The dolphins in captivity are stressed and live shorter lives despite having good care.

*

Today, I am spending changing flights and coming up with a fun alternative for my grandson and me for our special time together.

*

I’m envisioning it as an equal or better trip – focus on the better.

Spontaneous feelings of happiness are bubbling up.

*

I woke up in the wee hours feeling a lot of anxiety about everything going on right now.

*

An affirmation came to my mind “I am staying on top of things.”

*

It’s working. I am wrapping up details and getting happier by the minute. It’s a deep unshakable happy and I like it.
